Site Reliability Engineer - Infrastructure/Systems at Quora (Mountain View, CA)

Desired Skills and Experience

• Own backend databases like MySQL and HBase, infrastructure components like Memcache and Redis, and everything in between
• Drive reliability, uptime and efficiency improvements to Quora’s core systems
• Write and review code, plan and execute upgrades, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug production issues
• Share on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents
• Work cross-functionally with various engineering teams
• Build monitoring tools and automation to increase efficiency of all teams at Quora
• Drive postmortems and operations reviews for Quora’s core systems and services
• At least 3 years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems
• Strong operational experience in environments running MySQL, Memcache, Redis and NoSQL systems
• Strong operational experience with Linux operating system internals, filesystems, disk/storage technologies and networking
• Excellent coding skills (Python or Java or C++) and experience with scripting languages (Bash)
• Experience with AWS or other public cloud technologies
• Experience with capacity planning for web scale systems
• BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)
