Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience and willingness to work / learn on multiple database technologies, including detailed knowledge of at least one of the following (SQL Server, MySQL and / or Oracle.)
- Proven experience of large complex database environments (multi Datacentre / public / private / hybrid cloud models)
- Able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated proficiency with high traffic / large scale database-driven applications
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are essential.
- Proven track record of embracing new platforms and technologies.
- Thorough knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities.
- A strong understanding of SQL and T-SQL / creating / updating stored procedures etc
- Strong understanding of designing and supporting HA / DR environments
- Experience with programming / scripting languages and a working knowledge of shell scripting and understanding of current automation / configuration technologies (Chef etc)
- Experience with troubleshooting logical and physical performance bottlenecks with at least one of (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems(IT), related degree or equivalent experience.
