Desired Skills and Experience

  • Design data collection and enrichment systems for scale and reliability
  • Work on high performance in-memory real-time data stores and a massive historical data store
  • Produce reports, conduct analysis, and provide product insights to the broader VIDEO organization
  • Help shape how our organization manages data across systems
  • Lead an engineering team in the development of large-scale distributed systems. Oversee implementation initiatives, software updates, and the roll-out of new software releases.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing engineers
  • Implement strategies to bring greater focus and attention on data collection, management, and analytics which advance Comcast’s overall vision and business goals.
  • Identify opportunities to contribute to the body of knowledge used by business executives and engineering leaders to direct engineering and financial investment specifically in the areas of service quality and service reliability.
  • Translate analytical opportunities into technical approaches that yield actionable insights
  • Strong leadership abilities demonstrated over the course of several years while leading a team of high performers
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • A BS or MS in Computer Science or in a related field
  • Experience with large scale data collection and management software including but not limited to Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, Flume, Spark
  • Excellent communication skills; able to analyze and clearly articulate complex issues and technologies in an engaging and understandable fashion
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and technologies
  • An understanding of agile software delivery patterns
  • Success in developing and deploying software for a high-volume, highly scalable and fault-tolerant environment
  • Java and/or Scala proficiency
  • Experience with high throughput data analytics including query patterns, batch vs real-time processing, ingest transformations and enrichment
  • A working knowledge of statistics and statistical concepts.
