  • Preparing for failures of various degrees
  • Running the stack (Ruby on Rails, PHP @ Debian)
  • Taking care of the Crown Jewels (Databases and message queues)
  • Creating and optimizing self-service tasks
  • Systems monitoring
  • Troubleshooting and preventing unexpected major issues
  • Employing better tools and processes
  • Staying up-to-date
  • Mentoring Juniors in the ways of DevOps
  • Strong Systems Engineering/Administration skills in a virtualization/cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCE, Xen/XenServer/KVM).
  • Expert-level Linux Operating Systems administration experience (Debian/Ubuntu, CentOS, Amazon Linux, etc)
  • Strong skills in managing, deploying and scaling web application frameworks (nginx, Ruby/Rails, Django, Symfony, etc).
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills in small-to-medium production systems and networks.
  • Proficiency in at least one administration/scripting language (Ruby, Python, Go, Perl)
  • Proficiency in at least one infrastructure automation framework (Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet)
  • Storage and content delivery infrastructure management (NFS, S3, CloudFront, CloudFlare, Caching)
  • Good network design/engineering skills (TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, Firewalling)
  • Good communication skills, professional working proficiency in the English language
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging system deployment and usage (Icinga2/Nagios, Zabbix, ELK Stack, TICK Stack, Graylog)
  • Junior should be able to cover all the greatness and excellence after 2 years with our experienced Senior
  • Familiarity with MySQL, ElasticSearch, Postgresql, Redis, RabbitMQ
  • Extending infrastructure automation frameworks (developing roles, playbook and scripts)
  • Employing CI/CD best practices and tools (git, git-flow, jenkins)
  • Containerization and workflow management (Docker/LXD, Kubernetes, Deis)
  • Hashicorp IaaS Technologies (consul, terraform, nomad, packer, atlas)
  • Code/Infrastructure Security and Hardening (OS permissions/limits, iptables, cloudflare)
