Desired Skills and Experience

  • Provide systems administration for multiple locally hosted and cloud Linux-based systems including ERP, identity management, directory services, email, web, storage, and others
  • Develop and implement new Linux-based systems
  • Isolate, research, and resolve problems for critical Linux-based systems
  • Document new systems, new operational methods, and changes to existing systems and methods
  • Ensure minimal downtime and provide systems support in times of emergency by participating in a paid, on-call rotation
  • Assist the Associate Director of TI and the Linux Platform Team manager with regular technical operations and special projects
  • Possess intellectual curiosity and a drive for excellence
  • Able to work in a collaborative, technical, team-driven environment
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
  • Project management skills and good personal time-management habits
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, production environment
  • Willing and able to provide off-hours support
  • Experience with enterprise Linux server administration
  • Experience working with Open Source software systems
  • Scripting/coding skills in one or more of: Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, or PHP
  • Shell scripting skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field) and 2 years IT experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Able to work with sensitive/confidential information and to handle such information as required by Federal, State, and PSU/OIT/TI regulations/policies
