Desired Skills and Experience

  • Build, maintain and support Linux based solutions for the Faculty in areas such as HPC, data storage, software packaging, automated server/desktop deployments, security hardening.
  • Develop monitoring solutions to ensure the availability and performance of all supported infrastructure. Use monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix) to take a metrics based approach to measuring system uptime and performance.
  • Ensure all solutions are deployed and managed in a fully automated manner using configuration management and deployment tools (e.g. Puppet).
  • Participate in code review and standard defining for configuration management and automation code review process (e.g. bash, python, Puppet).
  • Take lead in response to any critical issues impacting HPC, Linux and storage systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to gather requirements and design solutions for research infrastructure.
  • Develop hardware specifications for next generation research solutions (e.g. multi-GPU cluster nodes).
  • Develop tools to eliminate manual maintenance and operational tasks.

  • Contribute to projects furthering research and teaching in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics
  • Busy but balanced workload, 35 hours a week
