Desired Skills and Experience

  • Day to day support of Windows and Linux users in the Department of Chemistry
  • Build and support Linux based solutions for computational chemistry research and teaching
  • Configuration of systems (e.g. Zabbix) to monitor departmental computing infrastructure
  • Automation of software and configuration deployment to Linux systems (e.g. Puppet)
  • Support researchers running simulations on Linux systems (e.g. benchmarking GPU drivers/hardware configurations)
  • Support researchers running simulations on HPC clusters (e.g. Grid Engine troubleshooting)
  • Occasional support coverage for technology systems outside the Department of Chemistry
  • Collaborate with Faculty Computing Manager and Principal Investigators in the Department of Chemistry to develop infrastructure strategy for next generation teaching and research facilities
  • Freedom to explore, select and deploy new technologies quickly
  • Contribute to projects furthering research and teaching in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics
  • Busy but balanced workload, 35 hours a week
