Desired Skills and Experience

  • Install, support and maintain the global WAN and local LAN and partner with internal resources to ensure high availability and effective capacity planning
  • Evaluate current network architecture and develop action plans to make necessary improvements in line with industry best practices and standards; provide input into the overall technology plan for the organization, ensuring specific technologies integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure
  • Partner with Information Security team to implements security, privacy, and compliance requirements, and acts as an advisor on the security aspects of network architectures and protocols
  • Perform key liaison role with all network operations and services to keep abreast of policy and procedural changes to be consistent and compliant
  • Develop status reports, capacity reports, and overall trend analysis for the enterprise networking environment
  • Research existing and emerging technologies that align with, business requirements; make effective recommendations based on extensive professional experience, internal data, and industry best practices
  • Provide technical expertise to analyze, troubleshoot and react to technical issues in concert with all relevant parties involved, including but not limited to, internal and external third party support vendors
  • Conduct technical analysis of software, hardware, and transmission of data between facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of effective and efficient network operations
  • Maintain a current knowledge of industry technologies through training and self-improvement
  • Develop and maintain detailed systems documentation including but not limited to architecture diagrams and process documentation for the global technical environment
  • Participate in change management processes for all network related changes and upgrades
  • On call for network related escalations
  • Formulating and implementing standards related to network hardware on monitoring and management
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong functional knowledge of TCP/IP required
  • 6+ years direct experience required in the management and administration of network infrastructure - routers, switches, load balancers, next-gen firewalls, etc. - in a high-availability / SaaS infrastructure on a 7x24x365 basis with at least 5+ years of experience in large, production-scale infrastructure delivering high availability
  • 4+ years of experience with network protocols for routing and access, including but not limited to BGP, OTV, IS-IS, OSPF, Multicast and layer two protocols (Spanning Tree, LISP)
  • 4+ years of experience with developing highly resilient multi-site, high availability network architectures
  • Strongly versed in a variety of hardware and software manufacturers, and a high degree of comfort and experience in mixed vendor environments e.g. Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet as well as developing and deploying solutions in open source technology
  • Understanding of infrastructure protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, VRRP, DHCP, ARP, TCP, UDP), IP addressing, and application protocols (LDAP, RSYNC, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto and F5 Networks product lines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill with experience presenting conceptual designs to executives, mid-level management, and peer engineers; highly detail oriented
  • Knowledge of Linux, including command-line interfaces, configuration, daemons, shells, and processes
  • Familiarity with scripting languages
  • Experience forecasting, budgeting, and cost modeling to meet business, financial, and technical requirement
  • Experience building highly automated virtualized environments, configuration management and deploying infrastructure through code
  • Familiarity with the state of network technology, virtualization, SDN, and similar constructs
  • Deep understanding of security concepts and putting those concepts into practice in a network environment
  • Next-generation firewall, IDS/IPS, DDoS, etc. experience

  • BS/BA degree, or equivalent work experience
