Desired Skills and Experience

  • Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) and virtualization environments
  • Work closely with infrastructure and network operations to design robust solutions within their frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain the deployment pipeline and QA environments to enable engineering teams
  • Work closely with the engineering teams to deliver high quality, highly available software solutions
  • Document and automate the provisioning & configuration of production systems
  • Work with security team to protect data inflight or at rest and create verifiable and auditable access methods
  • Provide operational intelligence by deploying and maintaining solutions for logging, monitoring, alerting
  • Create run books and escalation plans for core products.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to drive architectural decisions that facilitate growing performance and capacity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues together with the engineering team and prevent future issues
  • Partner with vendors and external service providers, incorporating them as an extension of the team
  • Write concise documentation around processes and maintenance plans
  • 4+ years’ experience
  • Experience with a scripting language (e.g. Ruby, Python, Perl, Bash)
  • Strong hands-on Linux System Administration skills
  • Experience with AWS/cloud architectures, IAAS APIs and command line tools
  • Experience in data engineering a big plus (Spark and other data pipeline technologies)
  • Experience with the triage of live production systems and applications is a must
  • Understanding of software development processes, best practices, and methodologies
  • Experience with version control systems is a must (Git specifically is a plus)
  • Experience with configuration management and system automation tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Familiarity with using and supporting analytics systems like Hive, Redshift, Presto, Tableau and similar tools.
  • Experience with Continuous integration, testing, and deployment (e.g. Jenkins, TravisCI, CircleCI, Rundeck, etc.)
  • Familiarity with log aggregation and monitoring systems (e.g. Splunk, ELK Stack, Nagios, New Relic, etc.)
  • Familiarity developing solutions leveraging Docker or containers in general
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and methodologies
  • NoSQL experience: HBase, MongoDB
  • Familiarity with BI and analytics tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau)
  • Incident response experience
