- You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with our software engineers to create a secure, scalable, efficient and performant cloud architecture.
- Become our team AWS expert, helping our developers work more effectively with AWS by directly solving their infrastructure needs, and proving mentorship and technical direction on all things AWS.
- Become our team’s DevOps expert, helping the team embrace DevOps practices and culture, creating a better development environment, where tasks like launching a new microservice become effortless.
- You will be responsible for the build, configuration, deployment and support of our cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Automate the creation and maintenance of our live, staging, QA and developer environments via code utilising AWS’s APIs.
- Reviewing our infrastructure security, and ensuring best practices are fully adhered to.
- Reviewing and testing our data backup and disaster recovery processes.
- Optimising our infrastructure costs, ensuring we’re taking advantage of any cost saving opportunities.
- Supporting our internal team with IT problems on their Macs, or on one of many cloud based services we use (G Suite, BitBucket Cloud etc), plus creating guides to help our staff resolve common issues themselves.
- Strong experience building and maintaining production systems within the AWS ecosystem using products such as EC2, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS, etc. and familiarity interacting with the AWS APIs.
- Java programming experience is prefered, or experience with a similar language.
- Scripting experience is essential.
- Deep experience administering Linux systems.
- A proven track record of automating infrastructure processes, and a desire to automate everything that isn’t an ad-hoc task.
- AWS Certification preferred.
- Experience with microservices architecture preferred.
- Sys admin experience, and a desire to help with ‘everyday’ IT issues as well as complex production infrastructure tasks.
