Desired Skills and Experience
- Responsible for automation and deployment of systems in a cloud environment
- Performs primary O/S administration for systems including responsibility for daily monitoring, periodic patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Experience supporting hundreds of servers.
- 5+ years experience with Linux Operating Systems in a business environment
- Experience supporting and administering a large, web-scale application environment with extremely high SLAs
- Strong scripting experience (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Experience with configuration management (SaltStack, Ansible, etc.)
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience interacting and automating with REST API’s
- Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and services (HTTP, DNS, SSH)
- Experience with cloud based providers - AWS, GCE, Azure etc. or a working knowledge of OpenStack
- Understanding of encryption, shell scripting, system and network security, and server hardware
- Good communication skills
- Excellent documentation habits
- High attention to detail and strict adherence to defined policies and procedures
- Strong desire and ability to learn
- Information Security compliance experience a plus
