Engineering Enablement

Our mission is to give product teams the ability to work independently and autonomously.

We aim to reduce teams’ overhead of working in a large enterprise, by enabling them to meet those requirements in the lowest-friction way possible.

We will liaise with operations and development teams, to make sure our strategies align.

Platform as a Service in EE

We have built a platform serving hundreds of developers around the world. We provide centralised services like logging, metrics, CI/CD and caching to developers who deploy hundreds of times per day. We continually improve our platform and work with them to solve their problems before they become ours. We are a distributed team but we sometimes we travel to work with each other in person. We’re currently based in London, Dordrecht, Berlin, Wiesbaden and Vienna; we come from diverse backgrounds and countries.

We have tons of room for innovation. Our platform is stable and the future is wide open so there is plenty of opportunity to execute your ideas at work. Every other Friday is “Hack Day” when we can spend the day doing anything. We like to go to conferences and present at them too. We experiment with new ways of working and like to try things out things before saying “no”.

We run infrastructure at scale:

  • Cloud Foundry ~6000 requests/second
  • Cloud Foundry ~1200 apps (microservices)
  • 4000 deployments to our platform per week

Services that compliment the platform are:

  • RabbitMQ as a service
  • Logs/metrics
  • DNS caching
  • Autoscaler
  • CDN global caching (Fastly)
  • Varnish for local caching

Some of our plans:

We plan to start leveraging Google’s Cloud Platform to make our platform more scalable, reliable and available.

To keep up with rapid developments in the CF community we are reviewing our deployment strategy, making sure we can quickly (re)deploy Cloud Foundry and upgrade continuously using CI.

We also aim to improve the user experience of our services, by making it more apparent what we offer, why we offer it and how to use it. Making onboarding easier and focus on making things self service wherever we see fit.

Your Profile:

You are a friendly team member who is modest and humble, open to learn from anyone regardless of age, gender, race, role or experience. You value social interactions and are able to self-reflect by asking questions. You are self-conscious and smart, but never a smart-ass. You favour building relationships over building systems. Continuously looking for improvement, but not chasing perfection and accepting failure. You have a strong preference of working together and sharing knowledge as opposed to quickly getting things done alone. We care more about these qualities than technical knowledge, however technically we’re like the following ideas and concepts:

DevOps principles like infrastructure as code, continuous delivery

Platform as a Service (currently open source Cloud Foundry)

Implementing solutions for cloud services, focusing on high availability, disaster recovery, scaling and performance

Programming - we mainly use Python and Golang, but we are free to pick the language is best for the solution.

We highly value potential not just experience, so don’t feel you have to tick all the boxes – we’re looking forward to your application!

We also value the diversity of our team members and we’re committed to increase it further.

After reviewing your CV we will contact you to schedule a short initial video call. After getting this first impression we’ll have a brief written assessment, followed by an on-site interview consisting of two parts, one technical and one cultural.
