Job Summary:

  • Minimum of 3 years in an ISP like environment.

  • 2 years of hands-on experience in several of the following technologies:

  • IP Networking protocols and systems including DHCP, DNS, TFTP, ToD, ARP, IP, TCP, UDP, SNMP

  • DOCSIS Cable modem technology

  • IP subnet management

  • RedHat/Centos hardware/software platform

  • TCP/IP implementations

  • Basic Cisco Hardware and IOS (routers, switches, CMTS)

  • Strong understanding of UNIX heavily weighted towards Centos and LINUX

  • Programming skills in Perl, Java, JavaScript, Python all UNIX Shell scripting plus skills with web based embedding (HTML, PHP, etc.) desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral, listening and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team or individual contributor role

  • Red Hat RH (150,200,255) Certification or related work experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of OSI layer 3-7, TCP traffic analysis, application flows web servers

Core Responsibilities:

  • On-Call Support (1 week every 3 months)

  • Escalations and Troubleshooting DHCP/DNS/BACC-CNR-RDU-CDV

  • Pro-actively monitor end to end provisioning applications

  • Knowledge and proficiency in Outage Management and Escalation

  • Certification in Red Hat RH (150,200,255) within a year

  • Ability to identify, write needed M&Ps or revisions of M&Ps

  • Identify and develop training for Level I support

  • Review maintenance changes for accuracy of detailed instructions and recommend changes to support operational guidelines.

  • Prepare maintenances to be run in the maintenance window

  • Execute, implement technical changes and support maintenance activities

  • Provide summary reports and communicate status of activities to Management.

  • Provide support to Engineering in major infrastructure upgrades and projects

  • Proficiency in Provisioning application Tools (Findnets, BACC TOOLS, Cisco CNR Tools)

  • Support device logging and repetitive historical data to pro-actively monitor requests

  • Monitoring tools for preset outage thresholds for pro-active fixes

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Prepare written reports and other technical documentation to communicate ideas, concepts and details necessary to accomplish specific goals.
