Linux TechOps Engineer
Location: Downtown Dallas, TX OR Chicago, IL
Position Type: Direct-Hire
Hourly / Salary: BOE + 10% bonus + matching 401K + 3 weeks vacation
Travel : 10%, as needed

GTN Technical Staffing is currently seeking a Linux TechOps Engineer for a direct hire opportunity located in Dallas, TX OR Chicago, IL. This position is a member of a team responsible for organization’s on-premise and limited public cloud Linux Systems / Infrastructure applications. The Linux TechOps Engineer will be responsible for Linux system engineering and administration, configuration management, containers, orchestration, virtualization, and storage. This team is also responsible for maintaining infrastructure applications such as MongoDB, RabbitMQ (and other message brokers), ELK stack, monitoring applications (such as Prometheus, grafana, and others) and various other core infrastructure applications.

  • Operate and continuously improve Linux systems engineering and administration
  • Maintain current versions of the Linux OS and package repositories
  • Maintain and enhance the configuration management and IaaS platforms (SaltStack, Ansible, CloudBolt, etc.)
  • Partner with software engineering teams to develop proactive maintenance plans, schedule maintenance windows, implement the changes, and follow-up
  • Participate in the continued evolution of our change management processes. Attend change management meetings and ensure all changes adhere to the change management process.
  • Implement and manage support procedures for incidents across all IT systems in scope and through all levels of support
  • Ensure high performance and reliability by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting system hardware, software, and applications

3+ years of experience in the following skill sets…

  • Hands-on Linux Engineering and Administration
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure related software, including VMWare, noSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB), containerization (e.g. docker), orchestration (e.g. kubernetes), SAN storage and backup
  • Configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack)
  • Writing and maintaining python/shell/other scripts that automate tech operations
  • VMware or similar virtualization technology
  • Dell server hardware
  • Be passionate about troubleshooting, debugging, and automation
  • Expected to respond to alerts and outages; participate in periodic 24x7 on-call schedule
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Provide top notch, responsive customer service to clients

PREFERRED (but not required)

  • Experience in a regulated industry strongly preferred
  • Financial Industry experience preferred
