Job description

Summary

As an IT Manager, you will supervise the IT Department to ensure the quality and delivery of IT systems for both the hotel and its guests. These efforts will be fulfilled timely, within budget, and in accordance with IT operating standards. Specifically, the IT Manager will perform the following tasks to the highest standards. This position will report to the Director of Technology, whom also supports the hotel General Manager
 

Essential Functions

General Job Functions

The I.T. Manager ensures proper functioning of the information processing systems and communications networks and ensures systems and security are maintained at an appropriate level for the hotel. Directs the activity of staff and vendors regarding projects and daily responsibilities; monitoring, assessing and mentoring associates in the execution of tasks supporting the I.T. environment. Evaluates and recommends improvements in the deployment and management of where technology development can improve company profitability through cost reduction or revenue improvements.

  • 35% Technical

    • Act as technical advisor for all new and hard software

    • Technology planning; evaluation, selection and implementation of methodologies, tools and techniques for specification and the potential business impact and facilitates adoption of leading technologies.

    • Understanding of processes and procedures to minimize input error and ensure good customer service is given

    • Ability to understand technical drawings and instructions

    • Adherence to established best practices for systems implementation, deployment, monitoring, housekeeping, security, disaster recovery, and backups

    • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems

    • Act as First Tier Support responding to and triaging incident requests. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connection, printer and software issues reported to the Helpdesk. Escalate requests to the appropriate party, as needed. Replace or repair defective parts and equipment

    • Design, test, implement and monitor servers, including database, email, file/print, and back up servers and their associated hardware/software in the enterprise systems

    • Recommend and execute modifications to server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance

  • 15% Operational

    • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies

    • Develop strategies for server and related component implementations and architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies

    • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems

    • Enforce system security guidelines and practices and ensures these requirements are adhered to

    • Manage assigned projects according to Information Services project management methodology, procedures, and processes

    • Manage all hotel/restaurant and corporate systems including workstations, POS stations, phones, music and all other system related information/technology related equipment. Update applications as required

    • Maintain overall hotel/restaurant system integrity

    • Manage all operational/past season inventory, sales, reporting and reconciliations

  • 20% Financial

    • Manage opening costs of equipment and labor needed for hotel opening

    • Make reports of past, present, and forecasted costs

    • Capex planning

  • 20% Administration

    • Setting up new user accounts and profiles (and take down of terminated accounts) and manage password issues

    • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records

    • Manage inventory control calendars including cycle counts and annual inventories

    • Manage all inventory management and control policies and procedures manuals

    • Maintain records of software licenses and manage scheduled maintenance upgrades

    • Manage and track all acquired equipment inventory

    • Manage and maintain inventories related to systems such as Maintenance/Service/Support, Licensing, Asset Management, Software Systems, Life Cycle Management

    • Manage productive business partnerships and relationships with 3rd party technical support teams, contracts and related service agreements

  • 10% Communications

    • Protects and promotes the organizations reputation internally and externally by staying up to date on projects.

    • Coordinate and collaborate with various Information Services departments to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands

    • Meetings with executive team and staff to communicate needs, strategies, and execute projects for the hotel.

    • Provide detailed support documentation and maintenance of documentation so that all members of the team can support any systems

    • 24x7 on-call, some weekend and after-hours of work is required

Required Education & Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 3-5 years in Systems Engineering and Hotel Management preferred

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Working knowledge of IT operating systems, particularly Windows and OS X, and Microsoft Office

  • Hands on experience installing IT hardware and software

  • Experience with evaluation of vendors and products (systems) both technically as well as functionally

  • Proven experience with customer facing systems

  • Knowledge of LabTech management software

  • Experience with payment technologies, mobile payments, POS encryption banking software system (CC processing) and PCI compliance rules
