The Database Administrator supports all database administration activities within the Cloud Technical Operations teams across the world. The DBA will work with a global, virtual team which is responsible for installing, operating, administering, maintaining and optimizing all Cloud database environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Database Administrator supports all database administration activities within the Cloud Technical Operations teams across the world. The DBA will work with a global, virtual team which is responsible for installing, operating, administering, maintaining and optimizing all Cloud database environments.

  • Perform day-to-day Cloud technical operational activities, including implementing changes, performing backups, granting user access, managing configurations, ensuring that scheduled jobs are completed, and administering the infrastructure
  • Perform Database Administration across multiple Oracle, MS SQL Server, MariaDB, DynamoDB and other database environments hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), and ensure 24x7 operation and availability in support of mission critical production applications.
  • Proactively monitor all Cloud database environments and respond to and resolve issues, such as data integrity, access, performance, and security
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in discussions with customer’s database teams
  • Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for all database systems
  • Participate in the design and implementation of database standards, policies, and procedures, including backups, disaster recovery, and data archiving
  • Participate to DBA virtual team and help develop and support DBA team members.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation

 Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for US Government Clearance; A US citizen or a lawful permanent resident with 3+ years of US residency is preferred
  • At least three years hands-on experience with Oracle 11g/12c in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities
  • Knowledge on NoSQL Databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrable customer service orientation
  • Shell scripting skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL programming language
  • Excellent organization skills, with ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of cloud models (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), preferably AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) experience.
  • Must have a relevant University Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Technical degree and ITIL Foundations qualification preferred.

Preferred Systems Engineering Skills

  • High level of proficiency with UNIX/LINUX, working in a complex IT infrastructure
  • Intermediate experience in network connectivity, communication protocols, VPN, DNS, LDAP, Load Balancing, and network troubleshooting
  • Significant experience with Firewall and NAT configurations
  • Intermediate experience with Haproxy/Nginx, reverse proxy
  • Experience with IT Management and Monitoring tools such as Puppet, Nagios, and Splunk
