The Security Developer role residing within the Comcast Technology and Product Security Organizations, is responsible for developing and executing strategies to deliver cyber security solutions and services for Comcast business and residential customers. The position will deliver software products that will support the overall Security Services roadmaps, which will include requirements grooming, working with partner engineering teams to develop the solutions, testing and validation, operational handover processes, and ongoing technical leadership. This position will be a key member of our data pipeline / engineering team. The Comcast Cyber Security organization relies on vast event driven data pipelines to monitor, detect, and investigate cyber security threats and incidents.

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design, implementation, and documentation of log monitoring, Extract Transform Load (ETL), and configuration management
  • Performs deployment, testing, and validation of networking and system components
  • Recommends alterations and additions to existing designs to improve quality of products
  • Works with operational teams to develop and improve monitoring solutions, plan and schedule maintenance, and implementing changes
  • Develop standards and procedures for managing, monitoring, and updating systems and applications
  • Communicates progress of work in progress, key initiatives, and walkthroughs on complex designs and architecture
  • Works under immediate supervision-Typically reports to a supervisor or manager

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar, and at least 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience in deploying systems and applications, monitoring, ETL, and configuration management
  • Working knowledge with ETL systems, ETL using Logstash, storage/planning with Elasticsearch, and shipping data with Elastic Beats
  • Experience with Cybersecurity systems, tools, and environments
  • Strong skillset in deployment and network operations, or sys-admins who have a background in scripting and coding
  • Strong communication skills understanding the value of good documentation, ability to detail complex systems in simple language, and express concerns about design and architecture with appropriate solutions

Technology experience and skillsets:

  • AWS: Cloudwatch, CloudFormation, OpsWorks
  • Open Source: Ansible, Apache Kafka, Apache Storm, Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Elastic, Hashicorp Terraform
  • Monitoring and Visibility: Prometheus, Influxdb, Cloudwatch, Netdata, other time series database
  • SIEM Systems: LogRhythm, ArcSight, Q-Radar (not a required but a plus)
  • Networking: TCP/IP Stack, Routing, VPN, Firewalls

Job Specification:

  • 5+ years working on large scale data processing environments
  • 5+ year working in a Linux environment + programming with Python, Java/Scala
  • 2+ years working with Apache Kafka, Apache Hadoop, or similar large-scale data platforms
  • Optional Certification(s): CISSP, RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator/Solutions Architect/Cloud Practitioner
