Job description

Our IT team is growing! We are looking to add a dynamic IT professional to act as the System Administrator in a multi-location environment. As part of our collaborative team, this position will also assist in help desk coverage and data base support. The Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning, configuring, operating, assisting, supporting and maintaining the server, storage, backup and application infrastructures to ensure systems are secure, reliable, available, and performing optimally. This role will proactive monitoring the server infrastructure as well as respond to alerts and handle tickets/requests in order to resolve issues in respect to SLAs. You will also be contributing to the ongoing growth, upgrade and improvement of the IT infrastructure. This position participates in after-hours support and will be required to perform maintenance tasks at times that are least impactful to customers and employees.


  • Manage system infrastructure including, databases, testing computer equipment, firewalls, malware and other software and hardware
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connectivity and software issues
  • Resolve complex workstation or server helpdesk tickets
  • Provide secondary support to other IT functions
  • Communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users
  • Manage group policy in Active Directory
  • Install, upgrade and support server operating systems and applications
  • Research and propose initiatives for continual IT improvement
  • Deploy, maintain and upgrade data center hardware
  • Deploy, maintain and validate system backups
  • Monitor overall infrastructure performance and availability
  • Maintain and monitor access control and phone systems
  • Database installation, upgrade and patching
  • Install and configure relevant network components
  • Develop and maintain server configuration and specification standards
  • Create and update documentation of processes, procedures and policies
  • Participate in the after-hours support


  • Degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of hands on experience supporting server operating systems; system administration strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to perform maintenance cycles outside of normal business hours
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Strong customer service skills; able to translate business needs into solutions
  • Administrative experience with managing the following technologies: Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and at least one Hypervisor solution (VMware strongly preferred)
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of system administration experience
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Linux, Citrix, Avaya IP Office, databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
