PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
As part of Global Cloud Services (GCS) organization, the Platform and Systems Ops (PSO) department is responsible for operating and managing the SAP internal GMP IaaS platforms to run the PaaS/SaaS solutions from various Cloud LoBs – SAP Cloud Platform (CP), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), BusinessbyDesign (BYD) etc. GMP is the largest and most critical productive IaaS platforms in different SAP DCs world-wide. It is up most critical to safeguard GMP IaaS platform to have zero-outage and minimize MTTR (mean-time-to-repair) in case of outage in the worst case
As an IT technology senior consultant Guest OS of GMP IaaS platform you are responsible for the PAAS level/Guest OS/Virtual machines running on top of GMP IaaS environment. You support meeting SLAs targets with our clients vertically (compute-> storage-> network), driving implementation, quality improvement and optimization of the PAAS processes and execution. You should be able to work functional silos (network, backup, compute, storage) and other organization units (architecture, design and engineering) to drive values to Cloud LoBs and external customers. You must be able to discuss, negotiate and come up the best solutions for the interest of SAP.
This role is to be accountable for Guest OS management and Guest OS availability on the GMP environment, to responsible for align and oversee Guest OS customization, tests and rollout with operational teams and LoBs, Introduce, manage and execute Guest OS lifecycle for the overall GMP Paas environment and per LOB, and evaluate and introduce online upgrade procedures for Guest OS, Support RCA process within Guest OS area.
- Degree or Master in computer science/engineering or related subject
- 5+ years of diverse working experience in IT infrastructure as Linux system administrator and/or DevOps/SRE engineer
- Linux and Windows OS certifications, Linux administration experience, Suse Linux Enterprise and Windows knowhow is an advantage, IT hardware/infrastructure understanding and experience in OS, Compute, Network, Storage, Backup
- Experience/Knowhow of ITIL structure/processes, Experience/Knowhow of Cloud IAAS and PAAS offerings
- OS automation knowhow, scripting and Chef or Puppet knowhow is an advantage, Knowledge/Experience with operations of XEN virtualization and Guest OS layer, VMware knowhow is an advantage,
- Excellent communication (fluent in English, German is an advantage),
- Experienced in injecting “agile” principles to the operation and demonstrate results
